Proof that complex ideas can be made simple for any audience

My Mom Works In

My Mom Works In PR is a children’s coloring book that proves storytelling is real work and clarity is a skill. Follow a real working mom who explains public relations and communication without buzzwords, fluff or overhyping the job in a way kids 4-8 can grasp.

My Mom Works In Mortgage is a kid-friendly introduction to the women who work in American housing finance explaining their work to kids without turning it into a math class or pitch. All pictures are real working moms in mortgage and 100% of the profits of this book are donated to Notorious Women in Mortgage to create real opportunities for women to grow their opportunities in this field.

The real skill is translating what matters, what to cut and how to meet the audience exactly where they are in a way that informs and i

That’s what this book series does while demonstrating my approach to every piece of work that I touch.

My Mom Works In is a children’s book series designed to explain real jobs, real industries and real impact in language kids actually understand.

Explaining isn’t hard

Kids often see teachers, doctors and first responders in action. But what about careers where parents are on their phones or tapping away at laptops? Modern careers have advanced faster than our ability to explain them and they definitely don’t see their moms characterized as heroes of a story. This series exists to:

  • Make invisible work visible

  • Expose kids to modern careers

  • Normalize women in serious, influential roles

It also exists as a very real, public proof point of how I think.

Why this exists

My Mom Works in PR is a kid-friendly look at what public relations actually entails and how moms work with brands and journalists alike to tell big ideas.

My Mom Works In Mortgage is a children-appropriate look at what a career in mortgage means and why many moms choose this path to ensure they can have a fulfilling career while also being available for their kids.

The books

What’s the point?

This series is a proof point for brands who want a fractional communicator who can:

  • Translate complex, highly regulated or misunderstood industries to any audience

  • Strip away the nonsense

  • Identify the real story

Kids are a tough crowd because they don’t care about credentials, get bored once they’re confused and generally ask better questions than most litigators. If I can get a message to land with them, I can do it with anyone.

My Mom Works In books are available on Amazon in print formats designed for:

  • Home reading

  • Classrooms

  • Career days

  • Gifts for working moms (and moms-to-be)

They are Prime eligible and easy to order in multiples.

Because this is how we do it at GRIT PR. This series reflects the same philosophy I bring to brands, founders, nonprofits and leadership teams:

  • Communicate clearly and directly

  • Know how to talk to your audience

  • Stop getting lost in complexity

If you can explain your idea to a second grader and a national reporter, you’ve got yourself a great message.

Why is this lives on the GRIT PR site?

If you are:

  • A brand covered in jargon and acronyms

  • A leader struggling to develop an elevator pitch that hits

  • A media outlet covering representation, careers or modern storytelling

  • An educator or organization interested in the series

Shoot me an email at Nicole@GRIT-PR.com let’s find your voice and simplify your message so you can stop blending in and start standing out.
